There are three major branches of biology – botany, zoology and microbiology. Botany is the branch of biology which deals with the study of different aspects of plants. Theophrastus is known as the father of Botany. Zoology is the branch of biology connected with the study of different aspects of animals.

Biology means the study or science of life. bios which is a Greek word means life and logos means study.

☑️Three major branches of biology:

♠Botany:- It is the study of plants. Everything which is related to the plants, the types of cells in it, their reproduction, pollination and fertilization ,their different parts, etc.

♦For example:- plants like mango tree, palm tree. Fowers are also included in plants like China rose, sunflower, etc.

♠Zoology: It is the study of animals. The study of animals include their reproduction, types of cells in animals, kinds of tissues, their behaviour, their interaction etc.

♠Human biology or Anthropology :- The study of human as a living organism and his relationship with other living organisms. The study of humans and their interaction with environment or society comes under Anthropology or human biology.

♦ Greek antropos = man; logos = study.

• Now a days, instead of biology scientists also refer term life processes, as biology is a study of various life processes of an organism plant or an animal.

• Histology: The is the study of tissues with the help of compound microscope.
• Eugenics: When the science goes wrong way. It is the science which aims to improve the human race through controlled heredity.

♣There is also applied biology: It is application of your knowledge of biology to earn as biology. Not only the study of animals or plants, it also includes the study of environment and a biotic or abiotic factors.
