First, Brigadier is the superior rank to colonel, but subordinate to major-general. While the corresponding rank of brigadier general in many other nations is a general officer rank, now, to become brigadier u have to join army

Now if u join as officer u can become a brigadier but it will take time and offcourse there is always risk in army cause u have to work all day if u r posted to dangerous borders like Jammu and Kashmir but brigadier have not to do such tasks as at brigadier rank most people become old aged but they also have to fight when there is a war.
So, this is clear that army men life's are in danger every minute at borders but they fight for our security so they doesn't fear anything.
