Answer:

1- Digestion is the breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into small water-soluble food molecules so that they can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma. In certain organisms, these smaller substances are absorbed through the small intestine into the blood stream.

Digestion is a form of catabolism that is often divided into two processes based on how food is broken down: mechanical and chemical digestion. The term mechanical digestion refers to the physical breakdown of large pieces of food into smaller pieces which can subsequently be accessed by digestive enzymes.

2- VEGETABLES & FRUITS are called protective foods. Our body requires Vitamins and Minerals for various vital processes of life and for formation of blood, bones and teeth. These VITAMINS & MINERALS though needed in small quantities are very important for regulating various bodily functions.Foods that contain large amount of antioxidants that make free radicals harmless are called protective foods. Foods rich in vitamins and minerals are referred to as protective foods as they provide immunity and protect our body from various diseases and infections.
