Answer:

a simpler form of matter that is independent and has the autonomy to live is called atom. the simple form of substances made up of a same type of atoms is called element. eg hydrogen, helium lithium, beryllium etc.

the complex form of atoms and molecules is a matter. it can be classified into element compound and mixture

  1. Any pure substance that cannot be broken into two or more pure substances by any physical or chemical means is called an element.these are made up of only one kind of atoms and are the basic substances from which all other substances are formed. eg:-oxygen,carbon etc.
  2. Any material which has mass, occupies space and can be perceived by our senses .Matter consists of tiny particles called atoms and molecules .eg:- book ,table ,chair etc. all are made up of matter. further matter can be divided into four natural states:
  • Solids - these are the substances which have a definite shape and a definite volume, have infinite free surfaces and are not easily compressible. eg:- wood, gold
  • Liquids - they have a definite volume but no definite shape, have only one free surface and are slightly compressible. eg:-milk, oil
  • gases - it neither has a definite shape nor a definite volume, can have any number of free surface and are easily compressible. eg:- air, steam
  • plasma - is ahot ionized gas consisting of approximately equal positive charged ions and negative charged electrons. plasma are significantly deifefrent from ordinary gases so are considered as 'fourth state of matter'. eg:- the tail of a comet, aurorae

(Mainly matter has three states that is solid, liquid and gas...)
