1. What number must be subtracted from each of 7, 8, 11 and 14, so

HELLO MATE:-

let the number = x

so

x-7, x-8, x-11 and x-14 are proportional

that means

x-7: x-8 :: x-11: x-14

then

 \frac{x - 7}{x - 8}  =  \frac{x - 11}{x - 14}

  (x - 7)(x - 14) = (x - 8)(x - 11)

 {x}^{2}  - 21 x + 98 =  {x }^{2}  - 19x + 88

 - 2x =  - 10

x = 5
