Answer:
Raziya Sultan , the first female sultan of Delhi.
Born: 1205,Budaun( a city in UP, India. It's located near the Ganges river. It was the capital of the Delhi sultanate from 1210 CE to 1214 CE during the rule of Sultan Iltutmish.
Died: 14th October,1240, Delhi
Reign:1236–1240
Parents: Iltutmish, Qutub Begum
Raziya Sultan was the first female ruler of Delhi. She was the daughter of Shams uddin Iltutmish, a Turk slave who rose to the position of the sultan of Delhi. The chronicler of the age, Minhaj-I-Siraj recognized that she was more able and qualified than her brother's and would make a fine ruler. But he wasn't comfortable having a queen as a ruler, nor were the nobles happy about it.
Despite the reluctance of the nobility of Delhi to appoint a woman even though she had proven to be competent, she managed to become a sultan. She ruled from 1236 to 1240 and was eventually dethroned. She was a righteous ruler who never discriminated people on the basis of race. Instead she gave importance to the competence and skills of a person.
But, why weren't they happy?
Well, Minhaj-I-Siraj thought that a “Queen's rule” went against the ideal social order created my god, in which women were to be subordinate to men. This happened back in 1236 when the gender norms of the society were very strict. Women here in India were oppressed roughly until India gained independence from the British rule in 1947. Some women are still not granted equal opportunities as men, it's the 21st century. As far as the nobles, women were to be inferior than men and they simply couldn't get over the fact that the kingdom was to be under the rule of a Queen.
Hope you found this helpful. I had a lot more points to add but from a reader's POV, I didn't wanna make this too tedious to read.
