Ans:-Tom was hesitant and did not want to have a humpback as a friend. So after Mr. Jacob left him with Philip in the study he did not talk to him for a while. He thought that maybe Philip was also like his father who was not a good person, or maybe he was spiteful and would do some mischief slyly. He also thought that the boy would not be able to play any games.But he did not want to waste his time in watching the rain and remaining in solitude. He thought that it was better to talk to Philip and have something to do every day, even if it meant that he would quarrel with him and show him that he cannot try his spiteful tricks on him.
Besides this, he saw that Philip was drawing things very easily. So he walked across to him and looked at his paper. He told him that he would also like to learn to draw.

Ans:-Tom was stun to Philip's feeling of consistency. In spite of the fact that he can't see that Philip distortion was neither planned nor inherited.
