Answer :

1. In the poem 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the ancient mariner wanted to confess his sin to someone. He stopped the wedding guest to listen to his tale as the guest was transfixed by his hypnotic gaze and was, thus, left with no option but to listen to his tale.

2. The ancient mariner is overburdened with the hellish sin of killing the albatross for no particular reason. He tells his tale and confesses his sin to people in order to overcome his extreme guilt for killing the innocent bird.

3. The poet is trying to convey through this poem that there are consequences to all acts committed by us. We should not do anything mindlessly without thinking about the consequences as once an act has been committed it cannot be undone. Man suffers for the sins committed by him. So, we should stay away from irreligious and bad deeds and think twice before doing anything.
