1) Why is a series arrangement not used for connecting domestic electrical appliances in a circuit?

Series Arrangements are not used for connecting domestic electrical appliances in a circuit because -----


(1) In series arrangement same current will flow through all the appliances, which is not required.  
(2) Total resistance of domestic circuit will be sum of the resistance of all appliances and hence current drawn by the circuit will be less.  
(3) We cannot use independent on/off wsitches with individual appliances.

◾◾ There is voltage division in series circuits. Each component of a series circuit receives a small voltage for a large supply voltage. As a result, the amount of current decreases and the device becomes hot.
