The chimney bursts when cold water falls on the chimney of a hot hurricane because -
The chimney of the hurricane is completely made out of glass and we know that glass is extremely fragile.
When, the chimney becomes hot, the uneven expansion occurs in the glass body of the chimney due to the thermal expansion.
When we suddenly pour cold water, the temperature of the glass chimney instantly goes down and uneven contraction of the glass starts taking place.
This fast and uneven contraction, is intolerable by the fragile glass and it breaks.
