1. The young seagull was afraid of flying because as soon as he attempted to fly he was frightened by the great expanse of the sea. He thought that his wings would not support him and eventually he would drown but when The mother tore a piece of fish that lay at her feet now and then in his front. Since the seagull was hungry too much, he was compelled to attempt his first flight in order to get food. He was successful. This is when he got over his fear of flying over the sea.
2. After he flew into the storm, the narrator couldn't see anything outside the plane. His plane jumped and twisted in the air. He observed that his compass was turning round and round. It seemed to be dead. He found that the radio also stopped working. Suddenly, he saw another aeroplane which was black and it had no lights. Its pilot waved at him, asking him to follow. He followed the pilot for half an hour. Suddenly, he observed that he was using his last fuel tank and he would be able to fly hardly for five or ten minutes. Then, the other pilot started to go down and he followed. Soon, he found that he had came out of the clouds when he saw the runway.
3. Anne wanted to keep a diary because she did not have a “real” friend. She thought that paper had more patience than people. She had loving parents, a sixteen year old sister and about thirty people whom she could call her friends.That is why she decided to keep a diary.
4. The inauguration of a new, non-racial government was a historic moment in South African as well as world history. Thus, several distinguished international leaders attended this inauguration. It signified the triumph of justice, peace and human dignity.
5. Maddie is a very sensitive and emotional girl. She feels very sad when Wanda's father disclosed that he has withdrawn his daughter from the school. She has a very sick feeling in the bottom of her stomach. She curses herself that she failed to stop Peggy from teasing Wanda.
6. Maddie wanted to tell Wanda that she had not meant to hurt her feelings. She had the feeling that Wanda might not have moved away as yet. She thought to climb the Boggins Heights with Peggy, and together, they would tell Wanda that she had won the contest and her hundred dresses were beautiful.
