1. we say plants the lungs of the earth because they provide us oxygen as they take in carbon dioxide release oxygen which is used by humans and animals.. the release out oxygen in the process of photosynthesis.. after the food is made in the process they release glucose and oxygen so oxygen is used by us..
as you know we can't live without oxygen so they are our lungs..

2. there are many services provided by plants first they provide as fresh air
second they provide oxygen
third they provide us food
fourth they keep our environment clean
Fifth they help in preventing global warming..
sixth they are many homes to animals they are many Habitat for different animals..
