Answer:

The streets were deserted that night and the cold was at its highest of the season.

He just slept in his regular place on footpath with a thin blanket which could barely withstand the cold.

He was just seeing his surroundings searching for other people who used to sleep along with him on those footpaths because that's only the place they got to sleep.

He was confused wht aren't they today here? He just lay there gazing at the light from the adjacent pole.

He just got reminded of a scenario he witnessed that afternoon where a child threw away food because it was not his favorite food and their parents then bought him what he wanted.

He was analysing the way how differently life goes on for different people.

He was just 11. But the life already gave many weird experiences. He then just tried to sleep with a half filled stomach in a hope of seeing a brighter tomorrow.

The streets are deserted or not, the life of a homeless orphan goes on the same.

He was an orphan by destiny and not by choice.

Answer:

The streets were deserted except for me. Suddenly I heard the echo of footsteps in the silence of the night. I was scared! ‘Who could it be? A watch man, police, someone like me going home late at night or …some criminal following me?’ thought I. I started walking more briskly. My home was still a few hundred meters away. I thought of screaming for help; but then decided against it as everyone had gone to bed by that time. There was no soul around. People were fast asleep in their snug rooms.

As I began running towards my house, I felt the footsteps behind me moving swiftly towards me. I saw the outline of a tall man with cap moving rapidly towards me in the dark of the night. As I ran faster, the voice of the man following me shouted: ‘Stop! Or I will shoot you!’ Scared terribly I stopped. The man came closer to me! As he came closer, I saw in the light of the nearest lamppost that he was a cop. He said, ‘What are you doing outside so late in the cold night? I suspected you were either a criminal or a terrorist. If you had not stopped, I would have fired at you.’ I told him I was returning home after attending a friend’s birthday party. I showed him my identity card and showed him my house too. The cop escorted me to the house and wishing me good night went away.
