The Spider and the Fly
Stanza One :
The poet personifies the spider and the fly in order to make the poem intresting using Human dialogue, human setting etc.
The spider is hungry and wants to eat up the fly who has come up high near his web. He invites her to come into his drawing room, The prettiest of all that she has ever seen it. Temtest that in his parlour there are many rare things to see. The Fly knows well that who ever goes inside never come out.
Stanza 2 :
The spider did not give up easily as he is clever and crooked. He baped with his temteting words by asking her to come and rest for sometime as she must be tired from flying so high.
He says that his room has pretty curtains and the bed sheet is fine and thin. His seducing words failed to lure the fly as she has heard who steps on his bed never wake up again.
Stanza 3:
The speaker makes it clear that the spider is cunning and false. He becomes more polite and tempts her by telling that there are many food items to taste and ask her how to have slice of anything she likes.
The little fly remains firm and respectful and she knows that she as so desire to see what he has.
