The important properties of magnets are -

a) A freely suspended magnet comes to rest in north-south direction.

b) When, Like poles of two magnets are brought closer, they repel each other. Example: South pole of one magnet repels south pole of other. North pole of one magnet repels north pole of the other.

c) When, Unlike poles of two magnets are brought closer, they attract each other. Example: South pole of one magnet attracts north pole of other.

d) Maximum attraction at poles of the magnet. Minimum attraction at the middle part of the magnet.  

e) Magnets attract iron. But can attract and repel another magnet.

f) Magnet can’t exist in Mono Pole [Single Pole]
