Solution :

X's old share= 3/5

Y's old share= 2/5

Z is admitted for 1/4th share

Sacrificing ratio is 2:1

Z acquired 2/3 * 1/4 = 2/12 from X

Z acquired 1/3 * 1/4 = 1/12 from Y

Hence,

X's new ratio= 3/5-2/12

= 26/60

Y's new ratio= 2/5-1/12

= 19/60

Z's share= 15/60

New Profit sharing ratio= 26:19:15

Explanation:

Correct Question :

X & Y share profit in 5/9:4/9 ratio. Z is admitted. X gives 2/9 and Y gives 1/3 from their share. Calculate new ratio.

Solution :

Old Ratio :

X : Y = 5:4

  • X's Share = 5/9
  • Y's Share = 4/9

Z is admitted,

  • X gives = 2/9
  • Y gives = 1/3

New share of X =

= 5/9 - 2/9 = 3/9

= 3/9

New Share of Y =

= 4/9 - 1/3 = 4/9 - 3/9

= 1/9

Share of Z =

= 2/9 + 3/9 = 5/9

= 5/9

New Ratio=

  • X : Y : Z
  • 3/9 : 1/9 : 5/9

= 3 : 1 : 5

Hence,

New Ratio= X : Y : Z = 3 : 1 : 5
