(1) You are given a concave mirror of focal length 15 cm. What should be the range of distance of object from the mirror to obtain an erect image?
(2) The focal length if a convex mirror is 7.5 cm. What is the distance of its center of curvature from the pole of the mirror?
(3) An object is held at a distance of 15 cm from the convex lens of focal length 10 cm. Can its image be taken on a screen?
(4) A hypermetropic eye is corrected for near vision by using a lens of power 8/3 D. Calculate how far is near point of defective eye.
(5) For the same angle of incidence in medium P and Q, the angles of refraction are 35 and 25. In which medium, will light travel faster?
(6) A glass slab thickness 2 cm is placed on printed page of a book. Through how much distance the letters appear to be raised if refractive index of glass is 3/2?
(7) The image of needle is 10 cm from a lens is formed on a wall 20 cm on the other side of the lens. Calculate focal length of the lens and size of image, if the size of object needle is 2.5 cm.
(8) A convex lens of focal length 20 cm is placed in contact with a concave lens of focal length 25 cm. Calculate focal length and power of combination. Will the combination be converging or diverging?

1) f = 15 , so the range to get an erect image would be 0-15.

2)f = 7.5  we know that R = 2f  R= 15.0 cm

3) the mirror is convex. convex mirrors do not form real images that why image cannot be taken on screen.

4) we know that P = 1/f  so to find the near point  8/3 D =1/f   f =  3/8 m

5)in medium 1 the speed of light will be more because in this case the bending angle is more than that to medium two. when light passes from rarer medium to denser it move towards normal.

6)the words will appear after 4/3 secs. distance = speed into time
i .e 2 =  3/2 x t  t = 4/3 sec

7) h2 = - 10  h1 =25/10 cm v= -20

h1/h2 = -v/u;  -10/2.5 =20/u;  u= -5

by mirror formla; 1/f= 1/v +1/u;   1/f = -1/4; f= -4cm

8) P = 100/-20 +100/25 = -1 hence the lens is diverging

hope it helps!!
