1)You are given two test tubes, one of which contains an acidic solution and the other contains a basic solution. If you are given only blue litmus paper, how will you identify the unknown contents of each test tube? Do not taste the contents of any of the test tubes.

2) You are given an unknown salt. How will you identify the nature of that salt, that is, whether it is acidic, basic, neutral?

1. Dip it in both the test tubes. The test tube which contains acid will change it to red and the test tube which contains base will show no colour change.

2. Make a solution of that salt and use litmus paper to check it whether it is acidic or basic.

Hope it helps you.
