Let the number of boys receiving money be x and the number of girls be y

  • 22x + 28y = 1080                  (1)
  • x+y = 45                                 (2)
  • Multiply (2) by 22, we get -
  • 22x + 22y = 990                     (3)
  • Subtracting (3) from (1), we get
  • 6y = 90
  • y = 15
  • Therefore, from (2) we get, x = 30
  • Hence, number of boys = 30 and number of girls = 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Given 10.80 rupees were divided among 45 students and each boys should get 22 paise and each girl should get 28 paise . How many boys and girls were present

  • Let m and n be number of boys and number of girls
  • So m + n = 45---1
  • Also 22m + 28n = 1080
  • Now we get 11 m + 14n = 540—2
  • Multiply eqn 1 by 11 we get
  • 11m + 11n = 495
  • 11m + 14n = 540
  • Subtracting the equations we get
  • So – 3 n = - 45
  • Or n = 15
  • Now m + n = 45
  • Or m + 15 = 45
  • Or m = 45 – 15
  • Or m = 30
  • So 30 boys and 15 girls were present
