myGiven that A can finish a piece of work in 6 days,

So, in one day A will do 1/6 th of work,

Given that B can finish a piece of work in 4 days,

So, in one day B will do 1/4 th of work,

Given that initially A has worked for 2 days,

So A will complete 2*1/6 = 1/3 rd of work

Remaining Work = 2/3 rd of work.

If A and B works together,

In 1 day, bot A and B could do = (1/6 + 1/4) of work

Step-by-step explanation:

Lcm of 6 and 4 is 12 so let total work be 12 units

Work done by A in one day = 12/6 = 2units

Work done by B in one day = 12/4 = 3 units

A working for 2 days will do 2*2 units = 4 units of total work

Remaining work = 12–4 = 8 units

Since B has joined A after this both will together finish remaining work = 8/2+3 = 8/5 days

Total time taken = A's 2 day work + 8/5 days

= 18/5 days
