10. A ladder whose length is 13m reaches to a window of a house, which is 12m above the
ground. How far is the foot of the ladder from the foot of the house.

vishalkumar3687: here , by Pythagoras theorem. now the space between ladder and shadow is 5 cm
misscherry: we can use pythagoras theorem and the answer will be 5 cm

Let OA be the window of the house and AB is the ladder in the figure.

In ΔAOB by Pythagoras theorem

AB² = OA² + OB²

13² = 12² + OB²

169 = 144 + OB²

OB² = 169 - 144

OB² = 25

OB = 25

OB = 5

Hence, the distance of the foot of ladder from the foot of house is 5 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given length of ladder =13m.

Given length of wall=12m.

distance between the wall and ladder=??

So, By Pythagoras Theorm

H square = P square +B square

=13 square =12 square +B square

169=144+B square

B square =169-144

B square = 25

So, B=5

Hence Proved.!!!!!!
