10) A man earns a monthly salary of 10,000 in the
first year. He gets an increment of 500 every year. Draw a graph to show his monthly salary for 10 years. Reading from the graph, find:
(i) What will be his salary in the 5th year.
(ii) In which year will he get a salary of 14,000?

Answer:

Increment = 500n every year where n is year

Salary at 1st year S1= 10,000

The formula will be Sn=s1+500n= 10,000 + 500n

After 5 year the salary will be S5= 10,000+ 2500

S5= 12500

If salary 14,000 find year

Sn= 14000

S1= 10000

Put in formula

14,000= 10,000 + 500n

500n= 14,000-10,000

500n= 4000

n= 4000/500

n= 8 year
