1) 'Pungi' a musical instrument was banned because of its shrill and unpleasant sound. But a nai modified and perfected it and played it for the first time an Shah's chamber, thus it came to be known as 'Shehnai'.
2) This rain and its sound have resurrected the fondest memory of the poet's mother in his mind. As the rain continues, the poet tries to recollect all that caused him pain, yet at the same time lifted his spirits.
3) Actually, the merchant's father was the real murderer but he was dead. On consulting this with his ministers, the king came to the conclusion that the punishment would be carried out on the merchant. He escapes the punishment because he is too thin to be properly executed on the stake
