The chief object of our religious exercises is to gain prosperity, good health, triumph over adversaries.
We flatter our gods with prayers, bribe them with offerings, wash away our sin in sacred rivers,
pay priests to carry out expensive rituals on our behalf. Even thieves and thugs do all these things
in the hope that they will gain supernatural assistance in the performance of their nefarious deeds.
This kind of religion does more harm that good. Religion must teach the people that showing favours
to relatives, members of their own caste or community, giving and taking bribes, black-marketing,
falsification of accounts, dealting in spurious articles are sinful.​
