Answer : The pressure in the cylinder will be, 5 bar

Solution :

According to the Boyle's law, the pressure of the gas is inversely proportional to the volume of the gas at constant temperature.

P\propto \frac{1}{V}

or,

P_1V_1=P_2V_2

where,

P_1 = initial pressure of gas = 1 bar

P_2 = final pressure of gas = ?

V_1 = initial volume of gas = 10dm^3

V_2 = final volume of gas = 2dm^3

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get

1bar\times 10dm^3=P_2\times 2dm^3

P_2=5bar

Therefore, the pressure in the cylinder will be, 5 bar
