Diesel consumed = 16n litres where n = number of engines running 15 hrs a day

Step-by-step explanation:

10 engines consume 80 litres diesel when each is running 9 hours a day

=> 80 litre Diesel is consumed in 90 hrs

=> in 1 hr Diesel consumed  = 80/90 = 8/9 litre

6 engines of the former type consume as much as 5 engines of the

latter type

=> n engine of latter type will consume  = n * 6 / 5   times Diesel

   15 hrs a day

=> Effective number of hrs = 15 * n * 6/5  =  18 n hrs

Diesel consumed = (8/9) * 18n  =   16n   Litres

if Engines are  5  Then

Diesel consumed = 16 * 5 = 80 litre

if engines are 10 then

Diesel consumed = 16 * 10 = 160 litre
