Finding x :

\angle{x} = 82°

Why?

  • The measure of vertically opposite angles are equal.

Finding y :

\angle{x} + \angle{y} = 180°

⇒ 82° + \angle{y} = 180°

\angle{y} = 180° - 82°

\angle{y} = 98°

.°. \angle{y} = 98°

Why?

  • The measure of supplementary angles are 180°.

Hence, \angle{x} = 82° & \angle{y} = 98°

x = 82° ( vertically opposite angles )

y = 180° - 82° ( sum of the angles on a line is 180° )

y = 98°

The value of x and y is 82° and 98° respectively.
