(i) State the method that should be followed.
(ii) Why should this method be followed? What is this process called ?

i) acid should be added to water.

ii) this is because the acid being denser and heavier settles down below the water and the heat evolved is evenly distributed within the bulk. so spurting out of the fluids is minimised.
