JAMMU, June 9: Natrang presented a new Hindi play, ‘Sanskar aur Bhawna’ in its Weekly Theatre Series, at its studio, here today. The play has been written by Vishnu Prabhakar and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play opens at the home of one elderly lady who has finished all the terms with her elder son as he had married to a girl of some other caste. Moreover, she was not of her choice. But even after taking such a hard decision, being a mother, she is much concerned about the well being of her son. Her younger son and daughter-in-law who were staying with her are not happy with her decision of shunning the relationship just on a reason which is orthodox and illogical. But as a gesture of respect, they do not go against her.
One day, on hearing that her elder son was seriously ill and he did not inform them as he did not want any help, the lady was emotionally jolted. She discusses her dilemma with her daughter-in-law.Though she wants to get her son back but it is the strong chain of rituals and orthodox beliefs which prevent her from doing so.
Her younger son informs that with extraordinary care and nursing, her elder daughter-in-law has saved her husband but resultantly, she herself has fallen ill now and needs proper care. Now being much shaken by the emotional turbulences, the lady decides to go against her hollow beliefs, she listens to her heart and decides to bring them back.
Artists who performed include Amarpreet Kandhari, Anita Dhar and Susheel Raina. Lights were operated by Ankush Lakhnotra while music was rendered by Subha Rajput. Sets were erected by Mohd Yaseen whereas Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show.
