Answer:

We obtained the value of x = 40 and y = 100 for the given equations using substitution method.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the given equations,

10 percent of x+20 percent of y=24

We can write it in more simplified form as,

\frac{10}{100}x+\frac{20}{100}y=24

Solving further, we get

x+2y=240  ...............(1)

also given  3x-y=20 .............(2)

Since, we have to solve by substitution method,

From (1) , x=240-2y  ..........(3)

Put the above value of x in equation (2), We get

\Rightarrow 3(240-2y)-y=20

\Rightarrow 720-6y-y=20

\Rightarrow -7y=20-720

\Rightarrow -7y=-700

\Rightarrow y=100

We get y= 100 , put in (3) we get,

x=240-2(100)

\Rightarrow x=240-200

\Rightarrow x=40

Thus, We obtained the value of x = 40 and y = 100 for the given equations using substitution method.
