Answer:

  • The distance travelled (S) is 130 meters

Explanation:

___________________________

From the formula we know that,

v = ∫ dx . dt

From this, we can make out that the Area under velocity time graph give the displacement of the body.

Therefore, we need to find the Area under the graph to get the Distance covered by the runner.

Now,

Distance = Area of Triangle + Area of square

Now,

⇒ S = ( 1/2 × b × h ) + ( b × h )

Substituting the values,

⇒ S = ( 1/2 × 6 × 10) + ( {16 - 6} × 10 )

⇒ S = ( 3 × 10 ) + ( 10 × 10 )

⇒ S = 30 + 100

⇒ S = 130

S = 130 m

The distance travelled (S) is 130 meters.

Note:

⇒ Area under acceleration time graph gives Change in velocity.

⇒ Area under velocity time graph gives Displacement.

v = ∫ dx . dt

a = ∫ dv . dt
