Means The Species Which Are in danger today by environment are preserved in like zoo and gardens
Or
maintenance of species means every species are on trophic level , to maintain the trophic levels the species should be maintain
example- if species of deers increases than tigers also increases but grasses are decrease due to large number of deers
if deer decrease than tigers also decrease but grass increase
