Total distance is 1.1 km.

Given data :

Distance between two potatoes = 10 metres

Basket distance from the first potato = 10 metres

For,the first potato the distance is

= 2×Distance between basket and potato = 20 metres

(×2 because, going distance and return distance are combined)

For the second potato = 2×(10+10) = 40 metres

For the third potato = 2× (10+10+10) = 60 metres

So, it's increases 20 metres for the next potato.

Similarly,for fourth to tenth potato,the distances are = 80m,100m,120m,140m,160m,180m,200m .

Total distance = (20+40+60+80+100+120+140+160+180+200) = 1100 m = 1.1 km (answer)
