People die every day. Some are murdered, some killed themselves, some reached maxed age, but most often than not they are killed in accidents. The leading cause of death in America is house fires, to get into specifics, most casualties happen in the kitchen. It’s sad but a true fact. Most people all over the united states assume and say “Oh I know about fire safety, just have a fire extinguisher in your house and if something catches on fire you call the fire department.” This is just barely grazing the surface of fire prevention. Yes having a fire extinguisher is very important, but do you know where your suppose to keep it? How often do you need to check it? How many do you need? Where to get one from? When to test them? And so on and so on. It is expected that not everyone knows about fire prevention, but that’s why there are people like myself, fire prevention ambassadors, and the local firefighters that can teach you about fire safety. I know when I was younger I didn’t know a thing about fire safety, and my family and I suffered because of it. I had caused, accidentally of course, over 4 house fires before I was even 8 years old. You see I was about 6 or 7 years and while I was cooking on the stove my food caught on fire. My first panicked reaction was to…throw it in the trash can, which didn’t help. Then in an attempt to put out the fire, I threw napkins and towels in the trash can to put it out but that made matters much worse. Finally, I grabbed the trash can and tossed it out on my back porch. My back porch is made of wood mind you, so you can see how this is going to go. The fire trickled out of the trash can onto the porch and set it ablaze. And also sent me running to get my big sister who was upstairs sleeping at the time. We ran back downstairs she looked at the back porch then just gave me that look that said “you're gonna get it when mom gets home.”

Hope it will help you.
