No, Material Noun isn’t a subset of Common noun. Common Noun refers to any person,place,thing while material noun refers to a substance from which something can be made e.g; cotton,silver,diamond ,gold,brass etc.Pertinently, material nouns aren’t countable while common nouns are. The things made from material nouns are however common nouns e.g; a diamond ring,a cotton dress,an iron rod etc
