Crops are plants of the same kind grown and cultivated on a large scale in the same piece of land. In India, there are three types of crops :kharif crops, rabi crops, and, zaid crops

Kharif crops:

  1. Grown from June to September (rainy season of India)
  2. Examples : Soybean, Paddy, maize, groundnut and cotton are kharif crops.

Rabi Crops :

  1. The crops grown in the  winter season (October to March) are  called rabi crops.
  2. Examples of rabi  crops are wheat, gram, pea, mustard  and linseed.

Zaid Crops:

  1. Grown in the summer season of India (March and April)
  2. Examples : Pulses and Vegetables (bitter gourd, watermelons)
