Banyan Tree Fell Upon a Tata Sumo: Two Died

Barasat, May 27, 2008: A large banyan tree fell upon a Tata Sumo parked on the pavement in front of the  District Magistrate's office yesterday. The driver and the bodyguard of the magistrate were waiting in the car because it was raining outside. Suddenly, it turned into a heavy storm.

              The large tree damaged the car severely and the two were found dead on the spot. The road was blocked due to the accident. When the storm stopped, the local people reached the spot and pulled out the dead bodies. The government announced Rs. 2Lakh for each family of the casualties as compensation.
