100 g of ice at -10°C is heated on a gas stove till it forms water at 80°C. Calculate : (a) Heat energy required to bring the ice to 0°C. (b) Heat energy required to melt the ice (c) Heat energy required to bring water to 80°C. Isp. heat capacity of ice = 2 Jg-°C-1, sp. heat capacity of water = 4.2 Jg -1°C- and sp. latent heat of fusion of ice is 336 Jg-1

Answer:

Correct option is A)

Amount of heat required = Change the temp Of Ice from -10 C to 0 C + Heat required to melt the Ice + Heat required to increase the temperature of water from 0 to 100 C + Heat required to convert water at 100 C to vapor at 100 C

=1×0.5[0−(−10)]+1×80+1×1×100+1×540

=5+80+100+540

=725cal
