100g of water is evaporated from a 600g of 10 % (w/W) aqueous solution of common salt.
we have to find the concentration (w/W) of the new solution.
solution : initial mass of solution = 600g
10% by weight common salt present in the aqueous solution of 600g
so mass of common salt = 10 % of 600 = 60g
mass of water ( solvent ) = 600 - 60 = 540 g
now 100g of water is evaporated.
so, mass of water would be 540 - 100 = 440g
new mass of solution = 440g + 60g = 500g
% concentration (w/W) = mass of solute/mass of solution × 100
= 60/500 × 100
= 12 %
Therefore concentration of new solution is 12 % (w/W)
