A human eye which can see far off object clearly but cannot see the near objects clearly. This is known as long sightedness or hypermetropia.

It is corrected by using a convex lens.

This defect arises due to either by the increase in the focal length of a lens or the size of the eyeball becomes too small so that the light rays from the nearby objects are not brought to focus on the retina of the eye.
