Soames concluded that the papers had been tempered with someone, when he left to take tea in a friend's room. His task was not yet complete. So, he left the preaf upon desk. He was absent for more than an hour. When he returned, he looked at his table he had kept them together but not he found that one of them lying on the floor. One was on the side table near the window and third was where he had left it.
