  • Given : 11/2 < x/2 - 1 < 4
  • To find : x = ?

We have ;

11/2 < x/2 - 1 < 4

Case1 :

Considering 11/2 < x/2 - 1 , we have ;

=> 11/2 < x/2 - 1

=> 11/2 + 1 < x/2

=> (11 + 2)/2 < x/2

=> 13/2 < x/2

=> (13/2) × 2 < x

=> 13 < x

=> x > 13

=> x € (13,∞)

Case2 :

Considering x/2 - 1 < 4 , we have ;

=> x/2 - 1 < 4

=> x/2 < 4 + 1

=> x/2 < 5

=> x < 5 × 2

=> x < 10

=> x € (-∞,10)

Now ,

The the solution will be given by the intersection set of both the cases .
