Answer:

a) Reaction of sodium with water

Reaction of sodium with waterSodium metal reacts rapidly with water to form a colourless solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrogen gas (H2). ... The reaction is exothermic. During the reaction, the sodium metal may well become so hot that it catches fire and burns with a characteristic orange colour.

b) Phosphorus is a highly reactive clement and must be stored underwater for safekeeping to prevent it from catching fire spontaneously in the air. Red phosphorus is more stable than white phosphorus and is made up of long chains of phosphorus atoms.

c) Zinc is more reactive than copper and hence displaces copper from copper sulphate solution and forms zinc sulphate. ... Hence, no reaction takes place when copper turnings are kept in zinc sulphate solution.

d) copper reacts with moist carbon dioxide in air to form copper carbonate and as a result copper vessels loses its shiny brown surface forming a green layer of copper carbonate. the citric acid present in lemon or tamarind juice neutralizes the bases copper carbonate and dissolves the green layer.

e) Lemon pickle cannot be stored in aluminium utensils because lemon pickle contains acids, which can react with aluminium (metal) liberating hydrogen gas. This can lead to the spoiling of the pickle.
