11. Sucrose is a compound produced naturally in plants,
from which table sugar is refined. It has the formula
C,H,O, which means it is made up of 12 carbon
atoms, 22 hydrogen atoms and 11 oxygen atoms.

The formula for Sucrose is C12H22O11
now, multiply the mass number of each element to the number of molecules
i.e
Carbon = 12 X 12.01 = 144.13 grams/mole
Hydrogen = 22 X 1.0079 = 22.17 grams/mole
Oxygen = 11 X 15.999 = 175.99 grams/mole
The total mass is 342.29 grams/mole
now, we know the masses of all the elements so we can find the percentage
therefore,
H% = (22.17/342.29) X 100 = 6.5%
