given equation

x+3y=3.....equation i

3x+y=9......equation ii

x=3-3y..... equation iii

substitute equation iii in i

3-3y+y=9

-2y=9-3

-2y=6

y=-3

put value of y in equation ii

3x+(-3) =3

x=6/3

x=2

hence, the value of y= -3 and x=2

hope it helps.... stay tuned
