  • As per the data given in the question, we have to determine the required number.

Let the numbers are 4x and 5x respectively.

        According to a given condition,

Two numbers are in the ratio 4:5.If 7 is subtracted from each of them,  then the ratio becomes 3:4. we will write as,

        \Rightarrow \frac{4x-7}{5x-7}=\frac{3}{4}\\\Rightarrow 4(4x-7)=3(5x-7)\\\Rightarrow 16x-28=15x-21\\\Rightarrow 16x-15x=-21+28\\\Rightarrow x=7.

So, the first number will be

       \Rightarrow 4x=4\times7=28.

And the second number will be

       \Rightarrow 5x=5\times7=35.

Hence, the numbers are 28 and 35 respectively.
