IN melting of a substance actually phase of substance changes. In a substance there is a force of attraction between molecules of substances which binds the molecules to close. In melting the force of attraction becomes weaker and molecules go apart. In different substance this force of attraction are different so different energy is required to weak the force, hence different substance have different melting points.
