you have to firstly add the both eq.,... (1) and (2)

now substract eq (1) and (2)..

-262 (x + y) = 786 = > x + y = -3 ...... (4)

$on \: solving \: eq \: 1 \: and \: 2 \: \: \: we \: get \: \: \: x = - 1 \: \: and \: y \: = - 2$
