3x + 5y = - 7 this is eqn 2

From 2

3x = -(5y + 7)

x = - (5y + 7 )/3

x is in eqn 1

11(-5y - 7 )/3 - 8y = 27

-55y - 77 - 24y = 81

-79y = 158

-y = 158/79

- y = 2

y = - 2

substitute y value in x

x = - [5(-2) + 7 ]/3

x = 10 - 7 /3

x = 1

Hence x = 1 y = - 2

Verification

11(1) - 8(-2) = 27

11 + 16 = 27

27 = 27

lhs = rhs
