Explanation:

  • since, a=constant
  • s1= 3 metre and t1=1 sec
  • s2= 8 metre and t2= 2s

We know that,

Snth= u+a/2(2n-1)

so, s1=u+a/2(2n-1)

3=u+a/2(2 X 1-1)

3=u+a/2 ------------(i)

again, s2=u+a/2(2n-1)

8= u+a/2(2 X 2-1)

8= u+a/2 X 3

8= u+3a/2-------------(ii)

From (i) and (ii)-----

solving both equations,

8=4a/2

8=2a

====> a=4 m/s^2(acceleration)

Putting value of "a" in eq. 1---

3=u + 4/2

3=u + 2

u= 1 m/s===>initial velocity
